Rangers defy odds, reach district final

The North Ridgeville boys basketball team wasn’t supposed to do much in the Division I bracket. Seeded seventh, the Rangers were the favorite to win its first round matchup, but after a 63-61 win over No. 9 Westlake, the Rangers were fortunate to advance to play in round two.

The Southwestern Conference will be well-represented in the football state playoffs this weekend. Avon (9-1 overall, 8-1 in the SWC), North Ridgeville (7-3, 6-3) and Olmsted Falls (6-4, 5-4) will try to extend the 2015 season after opening sectional playoff action Friday night.
