Representatives from the Cleveland Scholarships Program, Lorain County Community College’s (LCCC) Financial Aid Office and the Community Foundation will participate in Brookside High School’s (BHS) Financial Aid Information Night, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9. The purpose of the evening’s program, put together by the BHS Guidance Department, is to acquaint high school juniors, seniors and their parents with the many and various types of college financial aid and to explain in detail the processes involved in applying for scholarships, loans and other forms of financial assistance available to college or technical school-bound students.

Interested individuals may call the BHS Guidance office (440) 949-4223 to set up an appointment with a Cleveland Scholarships representative or to ask questions about financial aid information.

More free, professional help with the financial aid application process will be available at LCCC’s “College Goal Sunday,” Feb. 13, 2011, on campus. College Goal Sunday is sponsored by The Ohio Association of Student Financial aid Administrators (OASFAA). OASFAA representatives and financial aid professionals from Ohio colleges and universities will walk students and parents through the process and assist them with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other applications that must be completed in order to qualify for scholarships, grants, loans and other forms of assistance. Parents and students should bring copies of their 2010 Federal 1040 tax returns, W-2 forms and any other income and benefits information for both students and parents. More information can be found online.
