Sheffield Village/Sheffield Lake
By John Edwards
Harris Road in Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village will be closed from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (today) between Colorado and Richelieu avenues for the annual Brookside High School (BHS) homecoming parade. The parade route is on Harris Road, from the Sheffield Lake fire station to Brookside High School. The homecoming parade, led by Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village safety forces and featuring the Cardinals’ “Wall of Sound” marching band (and all of the school’s fall athletes and cheerleaders), will step off at 6 p.m.
In keeping with tradition, the homecoming parade will not only feature floats designed and built by the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior high school classes, but floats and marching students from Sheffield Middle School and Knollwood, Tennyson, Barr and Forestlawn elementary schools as well. Fans and parents annually line Harris Road to watch the parade. The “Cardinal Bowl” girls’ flag football games, tug of war and other contests with freshman, sophomore, junior and senior teams will be at Sevits Stadium after the parade. Crowning of the homecoming queen, king and court will take place Friday in Sevits Stadium during the pregame band show at 6:30 p.m. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. The homecoming dance will be 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday in the BHS gym.
