By MICHELE MURPHY

Open auditions for the upcoming production of “Annie” will be held at French Creek Theatre, 4530 Colorado Ave., Sheffield Village, 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, and 7-10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11. Adults and children may audition. No appointment is necessary.

Auditions are for all roles including the principal characters Annie, Daddy Warbucks, Grace and Miss Hannigan as well as orphans and the ensemble. Annie is based on the comic strip character Little Orphan Annie launched by Harold Gray in 1924. The musical was first produced on Broadway in 1977. Since then it has been produced throughout the United States and internationally. It won the Tony Award for best musical. The song “Tomorrow” is perhaps the musical’s most popular.

The French Creek production will be directed by Monica Olejko, with musical direction by Anthony Trifiletti. Both are Lorain County natives. Performances will be on weekends Dec. 1-17.

French Creek Theatre is housed within the French Creek Reservation of Lorain County Metro Parks.
