Small changes to water bills after planned increases took effect

Incremental wastewater rate increases for Avon Lake Regional Water (ALRW) customers are in effect.
For Avon Lake residents, rates over and above the base fee increased from $3.63 per 1,000 gallons to $4.17 per 1,000 gallons for bills issued after July 1, 2016. Rates then increase to $4.80 per 1,000 gallons for bills issued after July 1, 2017.

Former mayor Zuber busy canvassing for a council run

Former Avon Lake mayor and councilman Karl (K.C.) Zuber recently pulled a petition with the Lorain County Board of Elections, hoping for a position on the Avon Lake City Council . He’s since been canvassing neighborhoods for signatures ahead of the November election.

Zuber served as mayor from 2008 to 2011, when current Mayor Greg Zilka successfully ran against him.

Construction of new main fire station should start this fall

Construction on the new main fire station is expected to begin this fall and should be completed by the end of 2018, according to the city’s fire chief and one of the architects of the planned building.
