Referendum initiative against sales tax fails

A countywide sales tax increase will be going into effect despite voters striking down the measure in November.

Lorain County commissioners voted in December to impose the tax against the voters’ wishes.
Still, a group called Citizens for a Better Lorain County Government remained hopeful it could stop the increase.
