Avon’s new water tower ‘carrying the city’

Avon’s new 3-million gallon water tower located at SR 83 and Mills Road has been quietly operating without a big announcement from the city.

“It has been in operation since the middle of August,” said Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen.

“We didn’t want to make the announcement that it was up and running until we had the fence
completely surrounding it.”

North Ridgeville’s Manning backing law that would mandate school start after Labor Day

State Sen. Gayle Manning of North Ridgeville, a retired elementary school teacher, continued her quest to change the mandatory school start date to one that falls after Labor Day.

For years, school districts have been starting school earlier and earlier to a point where now, according to Manning, there is one district that starts classes on Aug. 10.
