City conducts helicopter survey; plans more effective culling season

About 165 deer were counted during a March 4 city-conducted helicopter survey.

Based on this number, the actual number of deer in Avon Lake is likely to be around 211, according to
Division of Wildlife estimates based on area trends.

A little bit of snow on the ground helped make the counting process go smoothly, as the deer were easy to spot.

Neighbors continue to hound city officials about safety on Lear Nagle near school crossing

Residents along Lear Nagle Road near Lear North Elementary School continue to voice concerns over safety along the portion of the street where the city removed stop signs there late last summer.
