Barbecue lovers will be pleased to know there is a new joint in town.
All Fired Up burger and barbecue joint in North Ridgeville has recently been opened by longtime restaurant entrepreneur Tommy Valorie. Valorie also operates Tommy’s Place in Rocky River.
The menu revolves around dry-rub-seasoned, hickory-smoked barbecue, starting with items like the pulled pork potato skins appetizer. Fried potato skins are stuffed with pulled pork with your choice of house barbecue sauce or wasabi barbecue, topped with Swiss cheese and bleu cheese coleslaw ($7.95). Initially, we thought the combination of Japanese wasabi and barbecue seemed like an odd marriage, but we liked the tang of the spicier sauce. The quesadilla appetizer is stuffed with fire-grilled chicken, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, onions and jalapenos ($8.95). Fried pickles are beer-battered and served with house bistro sauce for dipping ($4.95).
Flatbreads include Buffalo chicken with chopped celery and crumbled bleu cheese and Southwest flatbread with Kansas City-style barbecue chicken and cheddar cheese ($8.95). Beef brisket flatbread is topped with sliced brisket smoked in-house, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese ($9.95).
Burgers are a popular menu item at All Fired Up, starting with a half-pound of Angus beef. The All Fired Up burger is garnished with fire-roasted peppers, jalapenos, mushrooms, onions and cheddar cheese ($8.95). The quesadilla burger is blackened, seasoned with jalapenos, cheddar, lettuce and salsa ($8.95). The pretzel burger is made with bacon, cheddar and honey mustard and served on a pretzel bun ($8.95). Patrons can also build their own burgers, starting with a half-pound of beef ($6.95) and adding their choice of toppings for 50 cents each.
Other sandwiches on the menu include the Fiesta brisket, featuring thin-sliced smoked brisket with or without barbecue sauce ($9.95), pulled pork ($8.95), grilled barbecue-seasoned chicken breast ($8.95) and a chili dog with onions and cheddar cheese ($6.95). Sandwiches are served with chips, sweet potato fries or fresh-cut fries.
The menu notes that the hickory-smoked barbecue entrees are true Southern barbecue, dry-rub-seasoned, then slow-smoked in a wood-burning oven and finished on a wood-fired grill. A half-slab of pork baby back ribs with Kansas City barbecue or wasabi sauce is served with two sides for $12.95. Whole smoked chicken wings are tossed with house barbecue, wasabi barbecue, hot sauce or teriyaki sauce ($8.95). The pulled pork platter ($9.95) and brisket platter ($10.95) also come with two side dishes. Accompaniments include your choice of baked beans, fries, fresh-cut chips, bleu cheese slaw, regular coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni and cheese or house side salad.
Other entree selections are the 10-ounce New York strip steak simply seasoned with coarse black pepper and sea salt ($11.95), rib-eye steak with sauteed onions and mushrooms ($11.95), salmon ($12.95), grilled pork chops ($9.95) and chicken breast and baby back rib combo ($10.95). A children’s menu is available. A $5 meal deal is offered daily until 7 p.m., and there are football game-day specials.
