Board of ed approves spring break move for 2013-14

Though it traditionally has started on Good Friday and run through the week after Easter Sunday, spring break in Avon Lake City Schools will move during the 2013-14 school year.

Brookside gets some top individuals at Firelands Invite

The Brookside boys and girls track teams had a decent showing at  Thursday’s Nelson Howe Invitational at Firelands High School.
The Cardinal boys had two individual winners, en route to a respectable fourth-place finish with 89 points.
The girls had just one individual winner, but scored 80 points and finished fifth out of eight teams.

Lady Rangers defeat Avon

The North Ridgeville softball team rallied from a 2-0 fifth-inning deficit to pull out a 3-2 victory over Avon in a West Shore Conference contest April 5. The win improved the Lady Rangers to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the WSC.

Rotary hosts open meeting on economic development

The Avon-Avon Lake Rotary club will host an open-to-the-public meeting April 24, inviting Avon Lake City Councilman Dan Bucci to introduce his business incentive plan during the event.

The 7:30 to 9 a.m. breakfast meeting will take place at Towne Centre Community Campus Clubhouse, 200 Community Drive in Avon Lake.
