Split council vote ends subsidized trash fees

Residents’ trash bills will increase effective July 1, as City Council voted Monday night to end the subsidization of trash collection.

Council, voting 4-3, approved ending the practice of paying one-third of residents’ trash bills. The action will save $350,000 this year and free $700,000 for the start of 2013. Residents will now pay an extra $6.47 a month, or $19.41 each quarter, …Read More
